To make international education easily accessible, for Indian students, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar has ‘hiked a MoU with San Francisco State University (SFSU), USA recently. Through this exchange programme, LPU shall be benefiting-its Engineering students by giving them an option to complete their course in SF State and providing US education at the most cost-effective way, Sari Francisco Stafe University, which is more than 100-year-old, is a recognized leader in addressing issues both global and close to home, SF State is the largest in terms of international students and ranks second among U.S. universities for the number of students who study abroad for an academic year.
Dr Barry Levine, Head, Computer Science Department and Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, LPU signed the MoU, with an aim to build strategic ties and proliferation of international quality education in both the countries.
The tie up of LPU with the US University assumes greater significance at this time when all the Universities are trying to globalize themselves and localize the education patterns of the whole world. LPU has already formed· alliances with University of South Australia, Murdoch University (Australia), Wolver Hampton University (UK) and Gammon University (USA) and is further exploring more tie- ups with more than 20 different universities across the globe.
Dr Levine said, “Of late, Indian universities have carved a niche in quality international education through private participation. I am happy that SFSU has found a suitable partner in LPU to carry our operations in India pursuing the larger goal of dissemination of professional education of highest standards.”
Meanwhile, Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, LPU has also’ expressed pleasure over the alliance. “It is a major landmark in the history of LPU. At LPU providing quality education has always been the primary objective and the partnership with SF State is a natural and spontaneous step towards this goal,” he added.
