South Dakota Board of Governors believes that growth in online learning in South Dakota public universities exceed national trends.
Report of the Sloan Consortium indicates that the number of students in the form of distance learning in the 2008/09 school year was enrolled, up 17 percent on an annualized basis, compared to 13 per cent growth in national level.
General Director of Regent’s, Jack Warner said that the availability of distance education is particularly important in rural states like South Dakota.
Kathy Anderson coordinates distance learning programs for the regents. She said that in South Dakota, interactive learning is a part of mainstream higher education.
